Double Mattress Size UK & Ireland
The size of a Double Bed is 135cm x 190cm (4 feet 4 inches wide x 6 ft 2 inches in length).
The UK and Ireland do not have officially standardized bed sizes. However, most manufacturers stick to this common size.

It should also be noted that manufacturers in this region can specify tolerances of the actual dimensions quoted. This means that the mattress you receive could be longer or shorter very slightly. However, this difference is unlikely to change the performance or usability of your mattress.
Double Bed Size Europe
The most common double bed size (Especially in Northern Europe) is 180 cm x 200 cm. Countries such as Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Iceland often share this common size.
This is not the only double mattress size used in Europe though. Depending on the country, sizes in Europe can vary quite considerably.
In Portugal, a double bed (or Casal) often measures 140 cm x 190 cm. Meanwhile, Spain refers to their double beds as “Matrimonio”. Lengths can vary from 180, 190 and 200 cm, whilst the width can be either 135 cm or 150 cm.
There are two common double mattress sizes in Switzerland. These are 160 cm x 200 cm and 180 cm x 200 cm.
Italy, refer to their double beds as “due piazza” (two places) and also have two common double bed sizes. These are 160 cm x 190 cm and 180 cm x 190 cm.
Common sizes in France are 140 cm x 190 cm, 160 cm x 200 cm and 180 cm x 200 cm.
Double Mattress Size in America
America is one of just 3 countries to use the imperial measurement system. They use inches to convey the size of their beds. Because of this, measurements can seem a little irregular when converted to the metric system.
Common double bed size in America is 53.5 inches x 74.5 inches. In centimeters, this would be 136 cm x 189 cm.
