IKEA EKTORP Replacement Cushions
The IKEA EKTORP is a budget-friendly and vastly popular sofa. With 2-seater options under £300, it’s clear to see why it’s a popular choice for many.
Although popular, we often find that customers message us looking for IKEA EKTORP replacement cushions. If you want to replace your IKEA EKTORP sofa cushions with custom cut foam cushions, we can help you!
What Are IKEA EKTORP Cushions Made From?
According to the IKEA website, the inside of the EKTORP seat cushions are made using a combination of polyester wadding, high resilient polyurethane foam and polyester fibre balls. Meanwhile, the back cushions are entirely made from polyester hollow fibre.
Usually, we find that fibrefill cushions (whilst cheaper and initially effective), have a tendency to flatten and sag over time. Once this begins to happen, the cushions feel less comfortable and require frequent plumping in order to maintain shape.
Full foam cushions retain their shape for longer. They tend to have a greater lifespan and offer better support.
EKTORP Sofa Cushion Shapes & Styles

Domed Cushions for Replacement IKEA EKTORP Cushions
Some IKEA EKTORP sofa seat cushions are domed, meaning if you want to replace the cushions with completely foam ones, you’ll need to leave special instructions with your order to get the right shape.
You can start by choosing our regular foam shape, here you’ll be asked to input the length, width and thickness of the cushion. To find this, you’ll have to measure your current cushions.
To take measurements for a domed cushion, you’ll want to measure the middle of the cushion to gauge how thick the highest point of the dome is. Note down the measurement and then repeat for the edge of the cushion.
These two values will differ. So, for example, if your middle measurement was 25 cm and your outer was 15 cm, you would need to write the highest measurement in the thickness section.
Then, after choosing your foam grade, you’ll see a box with “Notes To Help Us Cut” on the next step. This is where you’ll leave instructions asking for the cushion to be domed down to the lower thickness that you measured earlier. Remember to request for the cushion to be domed only on the top side so that it matches the domed EKTORP seat cushion shape.
Of course, if you’re unsure about any of these steps, it’s best to call and double-check that your measurements are correct before we cut your foam. If you’d like to speak to our customer service team, our phone number is 01494 441177.
